This Month’s Featured Glass
About Katie
My interest in glassmaking was initially spurred by my flower-growing habit. As someone who grows too many flowers and is amateur at arranging them, I am always on the hunt for interesting vessels that complement and highlight the natural beauty of the blooms. In retrospect, creating my own vessels is a fairly obvious step.
The end result may have been the initial impetus that brought me to the hot shop, but the process is what has kept me going back. Working with glass is an excellent practice of being in the present moment. It can be a challenging material – constantly shifting, making new demands with each step of the process. Each piece is an exploration in every way: process, style, function, and feeling.
